How To Play Yabo

Requirements for YABO
◦ 2-4 Players (Yabo recommends 2 teams of 2)
◦ 1 Plate (Yabo recommends 2 plates)
◦ 1 Ball

Rules
◦ Game is recommended to be played 2v2. Can be played 1v1.
◦ Plates must be 25 feet apart from hole to hole.
◦ Determine who’s home and away (flip a coin, rock paper scissors, etc.) Winner
of game 1 decides future home and away.
◦ The ball must be thrown overhand. (No lobbing or under hand)
◦ The ball must hit the face or the edge of the plate and cross the fold line (Yabo
logo) to be considered a hit.
◦ It is both teams job to keep track of each situation in the inning and to keep
track of the score.

Objective
◦ To score the most runs before 7 innings.
◦ If the score is tied after 7 innings, you will play extra innings with a runner starting on second base at the start of each inning.
◦ Players from the same team will alternate innings throwing the ball the
“Skipper” is the person throwing that inning.
◦ Both players will play defense when the opposite team is throwing.

Offense
◦ The way to score is to get players on base and to drive them home with more
hits.
◦ To get on base, players must hit a single, double, triple, or home run.
◦ A single is awarded when the ball hits the face or the edge of the plate on a fly
and the ball lands on the playing surface.
◦ A double is awarded when the ball bounces off the ground and the HITS the plate landing on the playing surface. OR the plate TWICE and landing on the playing surface, unless the throw is a lob. The ball must land past the Yabo logo always.
◦ Players can NOT swat a bounce. Edges count.
◦ A triple is awarded when the ball hits the hole but does not go in (Rim Job).

◦ A home run is awarded when the ball lands in the hole anyway possible (defensive bobbles count).
◦ If a ball is thrown, making contact with the plate and does NOT advance past the YABO logo, that is a foul ball. If the ball lands under the plate it is an out.
◦ Every throw by the skipper that does not hit the plate is an out.
◦ When a runner is on base, they can only advance the amount of bases from the results of the next throw. A single advances 1 base, double 2, Etc.
◦ Ghost Runner Rule for baserunners.
◦ Ex: If a runner is on 2nd base and the next play is a single, the runner on second goes to third and the and the player that gets the single goes to first. If there is a player on second and the throw results in a double, the player on second will score and the player from that throw goes to second.
◦ In the event of both teams disagreeing on a call. The call will always be a foul.

Defense
◦ The goal is to get 3 outs. The defending team is the team catching. The
defense must catch the thrown ball each time it bounces off the plate with one hand only NO TRAPPING.
◦ Using 2 hands to catch, will result in the baserunner being safe.
◦ Teams can NOT interfere with a ball when thrown or bounced at the plate until
after contact is made with the plate. That play will result in an automatic hit. If done on a bounce, that would be a double.

◦ Dare turn a double play? If a baserunner is on and a force can be made, the defenders can work together to turn a DP. When the Skipper throws, and the
ball hits the plate, one defender must set the ball in the air to their teammate,
that teammate must spike the ball of the TOP of the plate, and the setter must
catch the spike.

Error
◦ If you bobble the ball off the plate and it lands on the playing surface, that is an extra base for the Skipper and runners on base to advance a base.

◦ Playing indoors you can use the walls!

Play at your own risk. Yabo is not responsible for any injuries.
